Add Google reviews to WordPress

Show your Google Business Profile reviews on a WordPress page or post with a Custom HTML block. No plugin needed.

Copy your embed code

  1. Sign in to GBP Reviews and open your Review dashboard.
  2. Under Review outputs, open the list or carousel widget you want to show. Create one with Create review output if you haven't yet.
  3. Make sure the widget is Published, then click Copy JavaScript embed.

The code looks like this, with your own token in place of YOUR_WIDGET_TOKEN:

<script src="https://gbpreviews.app/embed/v1.js" defer></script>
<gbp-reviews token="YOUR_WIDGET_TOKEN"></gbp-reviews>

Block editor

  1. Edit the page or post where the reviews should appear.
  2. Click + to add a block, search for Custom HTML, and add it.
  3. Paste your embed code into the block.
  4. Click Update or Publish, then view the live page.

Elementor, Divi, and other page builders

Use the builder's HTML or code module, such as Elementor's HTML widget or Divi's Code module, and paste the same embed code.

Things to check

  • WordPress.com: custom scripts only run on plans that support plugins, such as Business. Self-hosted WordPress sites have no such limit.
  • Optimization plugins: if a plugin delays or combines JavaScript (WP Rocket, Autoptimize, and similar), exclude gbpreviews.app/embed/v1.js so the widget loads normally.
  • Several widgets on one page: add each <gbp-reviews> tag where it should appear. Including the script line more than once is harmless.

If the reviews don't appear

  • Check the live, published page. Many site editors don't run custom scripts while you're editing.
  • Confirm the widget is still published in GBP Reviews and that your subscription or trial is active. Unavailable widgets render nothing rather than an error.
  • If you rotated the widget's public URL, copy the new embed code. The old token stops working.
  • Changes to a widget can take up to five minutes to show on your site.
  • If your site or plan doesn't allow third-party scripts, use the Iframe compatibility option on the widget page instead. It needs no JavaScript on your site, but you set its height yourself.
